Hotel Emperor Front Desk Hotel Emperor at night

Hotel Emperor is a 23 room new hotel (opened March 2013) near the city center.  On our visit the staff was very friendly. The hotel provides (unfortunately rather slow but) free in-room Wi-Fi and has a desktop in the lobby that guests can use free of charge.  We didn’t take advantage of it but the hotel can provide help with booking tours.  We did arrange a pickup at the river pier on our arrival through the hotel and the driver was waiting for us when we arrived. We departed Mandalay by train and The Emperor was very convenient to the station; less than a mile away.

We booked a Superior room and it was extremely small.  If we were to return, I would want to book a Deluxe. While the bathroom had an odd configuration it was clean modern and had unlimited hot water.

The room décor is attractive while a bit heavy on the woodwork and there was a good A/C, hot water heating pot and flat screen TV.

There is not elevator in the 4-floor hotel so if you don’t like walking stairs, request a lower floor.

One of the best things the hotel has going for it is the food.  Breakfast was adequate but the Bistro Café and Coffee western style restaurant was terrific.  We go into more details of our meals there on our Mandalay Restaurant page, where you’ll find reviews of both the Bistro and the breakfast.
